 Eco-Afro Futures

On Sat, Feb 15, 2025 at 2323 Broadway, Oakland, CA the Critical Ecology Lab invites community members, community organizations, activists, Black scientists and environmental leaders to join us for an exciting day filled with music, art, science, interactive experiences, and critical conversations that inspire us to reimagine a socially and ecologically just, sustainable, and thriving world.

Intertwining and honoring the environmental wisdom of many of our ancestors with the visionary spirit of Afrofuturism, we are ready to build a world where every living being, every system of our planet, is cherished and flourishing, honored in it's sacred wholeness.

What you can expect at Eco-Afro Futures: From Seeds to the Stars - Oakland:

  • Powerful and Thought-Provoking Talks and Panels: Insights from scientists and environmental thinkers who bring their lived experiences and values into their research, education, and advocacy
  • Interactive and Creative Spaces:Opportunities for hands-on learning, critical conversations, skill-building, and deep networking
  • Showcasing Local Impact: Explore work and connect with local vendors, community organizations, and artists driving justice and sustainability

Eco-Afro Futures aims to spark creativity, collaboration, and grassroots action in Black, Indigenous, and communities of the global majority. Regardless of your level of environmental knowledge, your perspective and lived experiences are welcomed and valuable. We're beyond excited to be in community with you all to reimagine and build a world beyond our present constraints. A world free from extractive economies and oppressive systems. A world where all beings and ecosystems are honored and flourishing, and the collective liberation of all oppressed peoples is realized.
