The Center for Interdisciplinary Critical Inquiry offers graduate students summer research stipends of up to $3,000 for interdisciplinary, interdivisional and/or collaborative projects on urgent contemporary issues such as authoritarianism, climate change, religion and democracy, borders and migration, race, gender and sexuality. Students working within or across the fields of critical theory, environmental arts and humanities, religious studies and digital humanities are especially encouraged to apply. Please note that these stipends cannot be used for travel.
For Undergraduate Students:
The Center for Interdisciplinary Critical Inquiry offers undergraduate students summer research grants of up to $1,000 for interdisciplinary, interdivisional and/or collaborative projects, including creative projects, on urgent contemporary issues such as authoritarianism, climate change, religion and democracy, borders and migration, race, gender and sexuality. Students working across divisional lines such as arts and humanities/social sciences/art practice/digital humanities are especially encouraged to apply. Examples of such projects might be a senior thesis on ecology and literature, a collaborative essay on digital platforms and disinformation, or an exhibition on AI. Please note that these funds cannot be used for travel. The project must have an interdisciplinary component to be considered.
For All Applicants:
A humanistic component is preferred but not mandatory. The funds can be used to purchase equipment (excluding computers or other hardware), materials/supplies for creative projects/exhibits, to pay for memberships to scholarly organizations, to purchase journals, books, and other primary materials, for the organization of small conferences or workshops (excluding travel), and to visit archives/libraries/museums in order to access research materials that are not available online.
